Rehabilitation for The Disabled


“Little Robinson Crusoes” is an experiential educational travel program, for children with disabilities and their parents. Children of ELEPAP – Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Agrinio, Chania and Volos, aged 4-15 years old, along with their therapists and escorts, participated in the travel program, a total of 50 people).

The program was realized for the fourth year by the Social Cooperative Enterprise “ARTemeis” of ELEPAP and Greece4all. Little Robinson Crusoes enjoyed a 4 day trip to Athens, visiting the most beautiful sights of the city: the Parliament, the National Garden, and Zappeio. They visited the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and the Nautical Club of Paleo Faliro Museum, where they participated in the specially planned for the children of ELEPAP, educational program “En Plo”, by the Onassis Foundation.

With the assistance of specially trained sailors, the children were acquainted with the sport, they visited a custom built sailboat, and they learned how to tie boating knots! The children also visited the cultural center “Myrtillos”, where the writer Dora Loizou, along with the Bronze Sailing Olympic Champion, Sofia Papadopoulou, told them the story “Road to Happiness”. A great party took place afterwards, with children and adults dancing and having fun.
Lila Varvarousi offered the “Little Robinson Crusoes” a very special experience, in Ecali Club, by narrating a story and painting at the same time – “The Fish that wanted to Fly”. A picnic at the Smartdog area, excited the children, who played with their four-legged friends.

A special experience was organized for the children of ELEPAP, the “Playful Train” event, by Noni Kioutsouki, at Golden Hall. The “Little Robinson Crusoes”, were divided into four teams, and played various games. Next to the children, many celebrities came along to play, such as Kaiti Garbi, Vasilis Porfyrakis, the actors Markos Seferlis and Matina Nikolaou, and Voula Zygouri, Wrestling Olympic Champion.

Host of the event, was the journalist Elena Papadimitriou, while volunteers coming from the Bank of Piraeus greatly assisted to the organization of the event. The Vice President of ARTemeis, and member of ELEPAP, Roula Eleftheriadou, welcomed the children during the “Playful Train” event. Mrs. Eleftheriadou thanked all the parents, therapists, and volunteers, for their participation and support of the educational program.

The hosts, families, children and volunteers, promised to meet again next year, for another amazing experience!
